What is the best smartphone for less than Rs.25000?

  By Shreya Maiti

The advantage of an ultra-competitive market is that it allows you to have fun for a limited budget. For less than Rs.26700, today we can afford a complete smartphone that meets all needs. What could be better than a small guide to see more clearly?

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro: the new benchmark

Like the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 8 Pro before it, the Redmi Note 10 Pro takes the lead in our ranking of the best smartphones under Rs. 26500. Xiaomi is definitely a past master in the art of offering smartphones with an excellent techno-price ratio.

The Redmi Note 10 Pro stands out first of all with its 6.67 ”FHD + AMOLED screen. If the manufacturer is satisfied with a refresh rate of 60 Hz (at this price nothing more normal), it pushes the tactile sampling to 240 Hz and certifies the whole HDR10.

Under the hood, the Redmi Note 10 Pro contains a Snapdragon 732G chip (optimized for gaming) accompanied by 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of storage. Above all, it has a 5020 mAh battery ensuring excellent autonomy. It can be recharged using a 33W charger provided. Little extra luxury: it has stereo speakers and a 3.5 mm jack.

Xiaomi has especially pushed all the sliders to the maximum in the field of photography. The Redmi Note 10 Pro has a quadruple sensor including a main one of 108 Mpxl. It is completed by an ultra wide-angle associated with an 8 Mpxl sensor, a macro lens with 8 Mpxl sensor and a 2 Mpxl depth sensor. Marketed from Rs.24800 , there is not even a debate.

And if your budget is more limited, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 remains a good alternative . The compromises made by the manufacturer remain minimal. The price is even sweeter.

Realme 8 Pro: the challenger

Just announced, the realme 8 Pro made a strong impression on us . We will pass on its very questionable design and instead focus on its versatility. He is so attractive that he could even have grabbed the first place in this ranking at the Redmi Note 10 Pro.

Like Xiaomi's smartphone, the realme 8 Pro sports a beautiful 6.4 ”Super AMOLED screen with Full HD + definition , all HDR10 + certified. Like his compatriot Realme also takes care of the audio part and certifies his Hi-Res Audio smartphone, nothing less.

If the Snapdragon 720G chip turns out to be a bit just for gaming, the Realme 8 Pro is doing well on other points . For example, it is very enduring and has SuperDart Charge technology (50W) allowing it to refuel in just over 30 minutes. Add to this a realme UI 2.0 interface undoubtedly among the best overlay of Android as well as incomparable photo and video quality in this price segment.

For Rs.26500 , the realme proposal is undoubtedly one of the most interesting in this segment.

Poco X3: the surprise

Launched at the beginning of September 2020, the Poco X3 is part of the Xiaomi family . After a successful Poco F1 and a more discreet Poco F2, the manufacturer returns with a particularly convincing Poco X3 . Do not be fooled by its price of  Rs.20300, the smartphone has it under its feet.

Behind a rather agreed design (apart from its original photo module), the Poco X3 contains a mid-range Snapdragon 732G chip. If he is not particularly gifted with 3D games, he is present in all everyday uses.

Unlike realme, Xiaomi chose a screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz . But to contain costs, the manufacturer had to opt for a 6.67-inch LCD panel (punched) instead of AMOLED. Not to be offended since the display quality is very good.

The Poco X3 has a quadruple photo module (a wide-angle, an ultra-wide-angle, a macro and a ToF) ensuring it a certain versatility. Like most models at this price point, it doesn't do a miracle in low light but does get overall decent shots.

The real strength of this Poco X3 is its autonomy. Allow more than two days for versatile use. Xiaomi also provides a 33W charger to charge the 5160mAh battery in just over an hour. Take advantage of it, its successor has just been announced, so its price should drop significantly.

Samsung Galaxy A51: the balancing act

In addition to its compact and resolutely top-of-the-range design,
the A51 shines with the quality of its Super AMOLED screen (6.5 inches Full HD +). Under the hood, the Exynos 9611 processor and 4 GB of RAM ensure in all circumstances. Above all, the software experience offered by One UI is excellent. Among its other strengths, we note the integration of the 3.5 mm jack, USB-C or a microSD slot to expand the storage up to 512 GB.Surprised by the assault of Chinese manufacturers on the entry and mid-range, Samsung completely revised its Galaxy A range in 2019, successfully.
The Korean manufacturer has put the cover back in 2020
with the Galaxy A51 , offered at 379 euros at its release. A few months later, it is available for less than Rs.26600 at most major distributors. While waiting for the Galaxy A52, just announced.

Finally, the 4000 mAh battery offers an autonomy of a day and a half in intensive use. Fast charging 15 W is also effective (1h30 for a full charge).

On the photo side, the Galaxy A51 shines with its versatility. Its quadruple 48 + 12 + 5 + 5 MP module as well as the integration of an ultra wide-angle, a macro lens, and a lens in charge of the depth of field make it possible to diversify the shots. Not to spoil anything, the photo quality is there.

Xiaomi Mi 9T: the little one who does like the big ones

Victim of its own success, the Xiaomi Mi 9T is often out of stock. And we understand why. This mid-range model launched at Rs.29210 has everything a great. Powered by the Snapdragon 730 chip and 6 GB of RAM, it stands out above all for its neat design and its 6.39-inch AMOLED screen without punch or notch.

Xiaomi has therefore housed the front sensor in a mechanical system which tends to disappear this year. Good news for those allergic to perforated tiles and multimedia enthusiasts. If its autonomy does not break all records, it remains very comfortable (almost two days). On the other hand, the so-called fast recharge is a little slow (18 W).

Nothing alarming since the talents of the Mi 9T are found elsewhere . Indeed, its triple photo module is distinguished by the presence of a telephoto lens, something quite rare in this price range. The Mi 9T can therefore capture better quality shots at long distances. It is also very efficient with its wide angle and ultra wide angle. Importantly, it does better than most of its competition in low light.

Samsung Galaxy A42 5G: affordable 5G

Before getting to the heart of the matter, let us specify that the Galaxy A42 5G exceeds the budget of 300 euros by a few tens of euros. Just launched, it is offered at a price of Rs.33650. But it is the most affordable 5G smartphone from Samsung , so its price is expected to drop pretty quickly.

The Galaxy A42 5G is therefore distinguished by its contained price , but not only. In addition to embedding 5G, it is particularly efficient and even stands out as the most powerful smartphone in its category. Very enduring, it inherits Samsung's One UI overlay, undoubtedly one of the best versions of Android to date.

Add to that an attractive design and a good camera and we get a very complete smartphone for an affordable price. What more ?

Google Pixel 4a: our favorite

While the Pixel 4a 5G has been available since October 2020 , the Pixel 4a has seen its price drop sharply. So now is the time to jump on Google's little bombshell. Whether it's a gift for you or one of your loved ones, it has its place under the tree.

In this price range, it's hard to beat Google. The American giant delivers a smartphone with exemplary finishes with a high-flying 5.7-inch OLED screen. Under the hood, the Snapdragon 730G chip ensures in all circumstances and the almost pure interface of Android is a daily treat.

Add to that a correct autonomy (a day and a half) and a fast recharge allowing it to gain all its life points in 1h30 and we have all the ingredients of an excellent smartphone.

All? What about the photo? Should we really recall Google's know-how in this area? Although equipped with a single 12 Mpx sensor, the Pixel 4a embeds all of Google's software know-how. Also, the optimization of the camera is exemplary. The Pixel 4a stands out, by far, as the best camera in its class. And if some will reproach him for his lack of versatility, the quality of the photos is such that we would lose our Latin.
